The 2020 Fund is pushed by awareness of the auspicious planetary transition that is now underway and the perils we face. It is especially moved by a clear vision of what becomes possible when we capture this moment, galvanizing the plethora of resources we have right here, right now, to get the job done and make a difference for future generations. The 2020 Fund’s mission is to accelerate progress to a sustainable world for everyone’s children. It is committed to putting in place exceptional long term, 'new paradigm' social enterprise and organizing strategies to achieve sustainability by the year 2020. Alliance-based approaches are applied to ensure we fully utilize the vast talent and resources available today. Philanthropic advisory services are available and donor-advised projects (involving individual, foundation, corporate, and government funders) can be organized under the auspices of the 2020 Fund. The 2020 Fund was established in 2001, following earlier 2020 initiative work begun in 1996.
Campaign 2020 From its inception, the 2020 Fund has been inspired by a bold vision—Campaign 2020. Campaign 2020 has one clear mission: achieving a sustainable earth within a visionary and realistic time frame, the year 2020. It belongs to every one of us-- citizens, organizations, businesses and governments. Campaign 2020 (C2020) is consciously designed to declare our generational mission and support the global movement and market in fulfilling it. C2020 employs proven holistic enterprise and marketing approaches to enable rapid shifts to sustainability. Download the Campaign 2020 introductory powerpoint The 2020 Global Listening Stage The Fund has focused on seeding the Campaign 2020 vision via a learning process involving extensive research and stakeholder enrollment. Specifically through Global Listening, the 2020 Fund has engaged movement leaders in identifying the “2020 Generational Challenge” and what is needed to get the job done in time. Global Listening projects have included: This work has been critical for garnering participation of movement leaders and laying a foundation for achieving success. We have invited leaders to collaborate around a bold vision by joining discrete projects that have not required them to relinquish power or territory. Global Listening participants have, indeed, understood that the 2020 Fund’s goal is to elevate and amplify leaders’ own work while leveraging the power of the whole.
